Welcome to Hampshire Bus Preservation

Thank you for visiting our website.  We are a small family from Winchester with a genuine interest in Buses and Coaches that have operated in or around Hampshire during the 70's & 80's.

Our aim is to preserve examples of such vehicles including Bristol VR's, Leyland Atlanteans and so on.  As a child, my interest in buses came from the regular rides on Southdown buses from Waterlooville into Portsmouth then on Porsmouth Corporation vehicles to see friends and family.  Queen Mary's were mostly withdrawn, Bristol RE's were being replaced with Leyland Nationals and the Bristol VR & Leyland Atlantean were the regular performers on the Southdown 740 & 744 routes hence my interests.

On leaving school, I joined the local bus company and started my career in the industry in which I remain today.  During this time, I have seen many changes to the local services and operating practices but for me, the National Bus Company era was the best.  Although Portsmouth was served by two companies, both had plenty of the same type of vehicle operating from their depots so if you wanted to see something different like a Bristol RE or LH, one had to head over to the Isle of Wight or Southampton.

My Wife, Heather and my son, Daniel share my interest and together we have built a small collection of vehicles that we enjoy displaying at rallies for you the enthusiast to enjoy and remember.  Our vehicles are not in ex 'Busworks' condition but are presentable and deemed as 'in service' condition, which is how I remember them.  We also have some good friends that own local buses whom we regard as part of our group and together we have a considerable collection.

Thanks again for looking and if you have any questions please feel free to email us.
